Shot on location in the Norwegian coastal town of Egersund, the video for "Wasted" stitches performance footage, playful visual gags and adhesive googly eyes into a grainy, saturated postcard. McCartney’s wide-angle compositions and tactile grading give Hitchcock the air of a delightfully eccentric tour guide, moving from sunlit streets to an abandoned Victorian chemistry lecture room.
The clip treats the song’s gentle ruefulness with mischief: cameos from Grace Conrad and Kai Slater (Sharp Pins) and Norman Blake appear on the last chorus, and the editing leans into stop-frame quirks rather than polish.
